Establishing Standards

As the hardware design and data systems have become more open, proper individualized design has become more important. Design needs have also become more comprehensive and now include direct tactical execution of specific product selection.

Choosing the best-of-breed manufacturers that can provide optimal performance and functionality, while ensuring the data management architecture to control these devices are open to interface with components and systems from other manufacturers, has become a neccessary core compentancy of any system designer.

Formulating a base map for any new systems integration project is to creating a plan document by which the initial system can be implemented and future expansions can be guided in the future. When these standards are established on an enterprise basis early in the process, it will yield substantial cost savings in expensive rework as a system goes from a single to a multi-functional configuration.
